The acorn is an illustration of one of my favorite topics to explore -- entelechy. Entelechy means, "bearing the goal within itself," and is a type of inspiration, quest for self-determination and creative force directing life to become all it is capable of being.
When people lose their connection with their own inner self and nature and attach themselves to the status quo, they remain bound by their ego or by outer systems that may limit their potential. When we allow ourselves to be a symbiotic part of a web of relationships -- and offer our talents as contributions to our community -- we feel more whole and fulfilled. We live a life guided by passion and conscious purpose.
Many great teachers and humanitarians, from days of old to modern times -- Gautama Buddha, Jesus, St. Francis, Gandhi, Mozart, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Einstein, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Rudolph Steiner, Maria Montessori and even Michael Jackson -- were ordinary individuals who knew what it was to be human. But they also dedicated themselves to listening to their inner spirit and, with a superhuman commitment to serving others, they achieved their greatness.
It has been said that gifted people with entelechy are like a magnet -- often attractive to others who feel drawn to their openness, aspirations and vision. Being near someone with this energy gives others hope and motivation to achieve their own self-actualization. I believe we ALL have entelechy or whatever we want to call it. I know that when we open to it, and even ask it to guide us, extraordinary things happen.
I'll have circled the sun 45 times this coming summer. When I reflect on my life story, I know that it has been, and continues to be, an inspired journey -- a journey filled with surprise "it's a small world" experiences, wondrous synchronicities and even a few miracles (by most people's standards) that have guided my path when I have chosen to listen to its whispers.
The inspiration that drives my work (which calls itself "Mosaic of Self") is that I have seen it make a difference in the lives of countless others, locally and in various countries across the globe. It is my hope that it may assist you in listening to the voice of your own inner calling -- that you learn to listen and follow the cosmic bread crumbs that guide your own unique path.
